The Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA) aims to improve the commissioning, design, implementation and impact of climate assemblies, using evidence, knowledge exchange and dialogue. We are an active community of policy makers, practitioners, activists, researchers and other actors with experience and interest in climate assemblies who co-create activities and knowledge.
Workshop on Revisiting the Impact of the Convention Citoyenne pour le Climat
Time
Five years ago this Autumn, the French Citizens’ Convention for the Climate began its work. The Convention was aground-breaking initiative that has shaped the last five years of climate assembly practice across Europe and beyond. The impact of the Convention continues to be contested.
Five years is a good time-period to reflecton that impact. The European Climate Foundation and KNOCA have commissioned three reports on different aspects of the impact of Convention to inform the ongoing debate:
- The policy impact of the recommendations of the Convention by Alina Averchencova, Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, LSE
- Understanding the impact of the Convention: a review of existing research by Claire Mellier, Knowledge and Practice Lead, Iswe and Selma Tilikete, Doctoral Student at the University of Paris 8
- Impact and social engagement with the digital media coverage of climate citizens’ assemblies Jose Luis Fernandez-Martinez, Assistant Professor at the University of Malaga and colleagues
Join us to debate the impact of the French Convention. It promises to be an exciting KNOCA Workshop. The reports will be shared with participants before the Workshop.
